On-Site Programs

On-site Sewage Program

All sewage disposal systems that have a subsurface discharge must be inspected by the health department.  Before a new facility is constructed, that is not served by municipal sewer, a site evaluation must be completed by the health department. A site evaluation is conducted to determine the suitability of soil for the installation of an on-site sewage disposal system. Recommendations are given to the property owner for installation of the on-site sewage disposal system. After a property is determined suitable for installation of a on-site sewage disposal system, a permit to install an on-site sewage disposal system may be issued to a certified septic installer. Certified septic installers must bring a drawing with grade shots into the environmentalist office before a permit can be issued. Then, a final inspection will be conducted after the installation is complete.
