Onsite Sewage Program for Pennyrile District

If you’re building a new home or business it’s important to know the regulations surrounding the sewage systems. For those who will have a subsurface discharge, your sewage disposal system must be inspected by the Pennyrile District Health Department.

Before your facility is constructed, a site evaluation must be completed. We will determine the suitability of the soil for onsite sewage disposal system installation. Then we will make recommendations based on the site evaluation.

When the property is determined suitable for installation, a permit to install the system may be issued to a certified septic installer. Certified septic installers must bring a drawing with grade shots into the environmentalist office before a permit can be issued.  A homeowner who wishes to install his or her own system must obtain a homeowner’s permit through the local health department.

A final inspection will be conducted after the installation of the system is complete.
